Building the DQN Architectureยถ

Experience Replay Bufferยถ

Experience replay is one of the two critical innovations that made DQN stable. Without it, consecutive training samples are highly correlated (the agent visits similar states in sequence), which violates the i.i.d. assumption of stochastic gradient descent and causes the network to oscillate or diverge.
